Most species need to dry out between watering and often growers kill their plants with 'kindness' by over watering them.
In their natural environment many Platycerium species go for days, weeks even months without rain. They often begin to look at bit dry and appear dead, but they are still alive, just dormant, awaiting rejuvenation after the rain.
With this in mind I think it's best to categorize each species to signify which are naturally more drought tolerant and therefore require more of a drying out period, relative to other species.
P.andinum (2)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
P.alcicorne (2)Needs to dry out, can be easily killed by over watering or heavy rain
P.bifurcatum (1)Very forgiving species, but does need to occasionally dry out between watering
P.coronarium (1)Needs to dry out, can be easily killed by over watering or heavy rain
P.elephantotis (2)Water once or twice a day during growing seasons and significantly less during winter
P.ellisii (2)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
P.grande (2)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
P.hillii (1)Very forgiving species, but does need to occasionally dry out between watering
P.holttumii (3)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
P.madagascariense (2)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
P.quadridichotomum (2)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
P.ridleyi (2)They grow on tops of trees and therefore need to dry out and good air movement is essential
P.stemaria (3)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
P.superbum (1)Needs to dry out, can be easily killed by over watering or heavy rain
P.veitchii (1)They can survive months without water in natural environment, so they don't require much water
P.wallichii (2)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
P.wandae (2)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
P.willinkii (3)Can be kept constantly moist (not wet), water them less during winter months
